Urram transport is expanding! We are pleased to announce the introduction of our car hire scheme, called the Car Club. The Car Club will enable local residents to book one of our EV cars , our Skoda Enyaq located at the Oakwood building in strontian and our Hyundai Ioniq 5 based at the old post office in Acharacle. Of course, we will continue to provide the popular Urram hospital transport service with one of the Urram transport cars.
The car club will increase the number of transport options available to local community residents which will improve connectivity and reduce some of the transport difficulties that we all face. We hope that the car club will bring further benefits of reducing our carbon footprint and saving residents money, by providing a real option to owning a second vehicle for occasional use. The car club will enable us to increase capacity for our hospital transport service, supporting travel to essential appointments, events and social gatherings that people may otherwise miss.
If you would like to take a car for a test drive before joining, please get in touch with Tracy who can arrange this for you.

Why join the car club?
The car club provides a convenient affordable alternative to car ownership and will encourage less carbon intensive forms of transport. Running and owning a car is not cheap when you factor in insurance, tax, depreciation, repairs , MOT, servicing and breakdown service costs. Using the Car Club gives you the use of a car without the need to own one.
Becoming a car club member not only gives you access to our fantastic community electric car but also makes the scheme a more viable community asset, making an affordable driving option available to more people within our community.

Why we chose to run the club with an electric car
· To reduce the environmental impact our travel has on the environment. EVs produce zero tailpipe emissions so no air pollution from our car.
· EV vehicles are generally cheaper to run.
· We wanted to provide people with a good quality affordable EV experience.
· The car club will give local residents the opportunity to drive an EV and allow them to make informed decisions on their own future transport options.
How to join the car club
The car club will be open to residents over 25 years of age in the community council areas of Acharacle, Ardgour, Morvern, Sunart and West Ardnamurchan. You must also have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 2 years and have no more than 6 penalty points on your licence. Full terms and conditions can be found here.
